Special Springbok stripes
Julia and I started talking about the Rugby World Cup a few weeks ago, and how cool it would be to have a self-striping Springbok yarn. It took a little while to get this off the ground, but I knitted up the first beanie on Tuesday evening, just in time to show at our coffee morning on Wednesday.
Driving out to Stellenbosch I was listening to KFM Breakfast and heard DJ Ryan O’Conor talking to Adam Gilchrist in London about what South African “gees” means, and the fact that he was heading off to an autumnal London tonight to watch the rugby.
With a little encouragement from Julia I managed to get hold of Ryan’s phone number, so I gave him a call. He answered and was really friendly, and said he would be at work this morning. So I headed off to Primedia to deliver his beanie yesterday afternoon. And here is on air this morning sporting his cowgirlblues Springbok Special.
We are busy dyeing up a batch of yarn, so if you’d like to order a ball or two to knit your “bok” a beanie please drop us a mail.
