Francine’s Winter Warmer
With a bunch of beginners coming for a crochet class we were thinking of easy ideas for what to do with just the basics. My standard solution is always to let the wool do the work. So Francine worked up this Winter Warmer to do exactly that. Working in the round is great for beginners – no danger of the edges leaning in or out, and once you’ve got your foundation chain joined into a circle it’s easy going.
Sizing:
One size, ~20cm wide (diameter) and ~27cm long
Materials:
100g cowgirlblues Merino DK, Francine used our variegated combination of Violet-Lilac-Iced Berry-Tanzanite
3.5mm crochet hook
Gauge:
17 stitches 11 rows = 10x10cm in double crochet (dc)
Instructions:
Chain 103
Ensure stitches are straight then join with a slip stitch to form a circle
Round 1 and every other round:
Chain 2 to start (this forms your first dc)
Work one dc into each chain of your foundation chain
When you’re back to the start join with a slip stitch to complete the round
Repeat Round 1 until you run out of wool.
Finish away your ends and you’re done.
Happy crocheting!
