Merino Lace Miriam Makeba

US$28.00

Fine, light and super soft our Merino Lace Single knits and crochets like a dream. If you’re not comfortable working with lace yarns then try combining it with one of our Kidsilk colours for a fingering weight combination. And blend different colours for gorgeous painterly, tweedy effects.

Miriam Makeba was a South African singer, songwriter, actress and civil rights activist, nicknamed Mama Africa. After meeting Harry Belafonte in London she moved to the US where she recorded her first album. Miriam Makeba became one of the first African musicians to be recognised worldwide and Pata Pata is probably her most famous song. This colourway evokes the many colours of African soil, as Miriam Makeba never forgot her roots. Make a statement like she did and combine it with Mustard, Carrot Juice, Camel or Terracotta. Since our colours are hand dyed in small batches there is variation between batches, and even within a batch. We have a process and ingredients for each colour recipe, but can’t control how the colours “land” each time. If you’re looking for a sweater quantity please let us know and we will dye up a batch specially for you.
