Fluffy Brenda Fassie

US$30.00

Fluffy Mohair is a versatile, double knitting-ish, weight yarn. It’s soft, light and an easy introduction to mohair. And you can knit it with a huge range of needle sizes. Use a 5mm to achieve a standard gauge. Or work your way up to 15mm for an airy fabric full of drape.

Brenda Fassie was a South African singer, songwriter, dancer and anti-apartheid activist. She is best know for her song “Weekend Special” but this colourway made us think of a song called “Black President” which she released in 1989 to honour then-political prisoner Nelson Mandela. And of course in 1994 he became South Africa’s first black president. If you want to take a stand then this is your colour. It’s perfect for a Westknits-style project and would go well with Charcoal, Mustard, Chilli Pepper or Silver Fox. Since our colours are hand dyed in small batches there is variation between batches, and even within a batch. We have a process and ingredients for each colour recipe, but can’t control how the colours “land” each time. If you’re looking for a sweater quantity please let us know and we will dye up a batch specially for you.
