The Slipstravaganza by Westknits is a masterpiece of pattern design and a spectacularly beautiful finished project. It’s a commitment to complete, but well worth the effort for the gorgeous result.
Your colour options are infinite – Stephen designed the original kits with a main colour and 3 contrasts, but it’s a fairly flexible pattern that gives you plenty of opportunities to play around with the colours and make your piece your own.
We’ve created a few colourways with swatch cards to give an idea of how the yarn colours will combine. Now that you can see finished projects it’s easier to get a clearer picture of what you want.
I used 250g of Charcoal as my Main Colour (I had some leftover), 100g of Under Pressure (a tiny bit was left), and 50g each of Carrot Juice, Guinea Fowl and Celadon (I used up all of these, so more would have been perfect to get the full size). 500g wasn’t quite enough to do the full wide chevron border. But I’m still very happy with the result. I think 600g for the whole project is ideal.
You could always switch your kit up and do 5 x 50g balls for a solid Main Colour and 3 x 100g for the contrasts, plus 1 x 50g for an extra contrast colour.
Cowgirlblues Merino Twist is similar in weight to some of the other yarn options with ~300m/100g
For the contrast colours this is slightly less than the recommended 365m but from my experience it is plenty of yarn.
Each “Slipstravanganza” knit kit contains:
Please be aware that we don’t include the required knitting needles because they don’t ship well.
You will need to purchase the pattern on Ravelry and await your first instruction.
Include a note with your order telling us which colour combo you want. They are named by the multicolour and the name is on each image.
PS If you want to create your own colour combination please go ahead, or mix up the solids and multis, we try to be flexible and help you to get what you want 🙂
