The LoveLetter Cowl is named after the “iphece” beaded necklace traditionally worn by Xhosa brides for their husbands. Zimasa and Noluvo are proud of their Xhosa heritage. Traditional dress is an important part of it. Seeing the knit cowl reminded them of these necklaces worn by Xhosa Makhoti (brides). And so we named this knitting pattern the LoveLetter Cowl. We hope you will feel honoured to be connected to the proud heritage of the Xhosa people when you wear your knit piece.
The LoveLetter Cowl Knit Kit includes 2 x 100g skeins of Cowgirlblues Merino DK.
We used 100g of Under Pressure and 100g of Charcoal. You are welcome to create your own colour combination.
The pattern pdf download will be accessible after purchase. You’ll get very good at knitting two-colour rib by the end of it. We have a video of the Zoom tutorial for how to knit the two colour cast-on and rib. The technique requires some co-ordination. But practice makes perfect! Please be aware that we don’t include the required knitting needles because they don’t ship well.
