Get in the gas line
It wasn’t a great day to be in a small business yesterday, not when electricity prices went up by as much as 30% last Friday, and there was a gas shortage in Cape Town. My gas supplier called me back in the early afternoon to say they had gas so I went down to get my cylinder re-filled.
Being confronted with a 20 person queue for a basic energy source was a real shock, and possibly an insight into the reality many people deal with daily. It made me think of wartime rationing and I was grateful to get home and be able to put the heater on again and warm my fingers up enough to get back to the keyboard!
